SC VILLA, BRIGHT STARS SHARE SPOILS

SC Villa and Soltilo Brightstars FC clashed in an intense match on match day 24 of the Startimes Uganda Premier League. The game, held at Wankulukuku on a Sunday afternoon, saw both teams eager for victory.

In the 4th minute, the first shot of the day was punched out by Bright Stars’ Hassan, creating a tense moment demanding a rebound. However, neither team could convert in the early stages.

As the game progressed, there were glimpses of brilliance, such as a nice interplay between Lutalo and Kakande in the final box at the 14th minute, but Lwanga’s shot sailed above the crossbar, leaving the scoreline unchanged.

By the 30th minute mark, SC Villa seemed to dominate possession, creating numerous chances at goal but failing to find the breakthrough. The first half ended goalless, with both teams heading to the break to regroup.

In the second half, the Jogoos returned with renewed determination, launching dangerous attacks but unable to capitalize on their opportunities. A pivotal moment came in the 66th minute when Bright Stars’ Ashiraf Mulindi found the back of the net, putting his team in the lead.

However, SC Villa quickly responded as Patrick Kakande leveled the score with a goal of his own in the 66th minute, restoring parity to the match.

Tempers flared as the game intensified, leading to a booking for Sekiganda at the 70th minute for a foul on Mulindi.

In a bid to shake things up, SC Villa made a double substitution at the 75th minute, bringing on Niwamanya and Elvis Ngonde for Lwanga and Sekiganda, respectively.

Despite late attempts to clinch victory, including a wayward shot by Lutalo in the 80th minute, the match ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams sharing the points.

Reflecting on the game, forward Junior Niwamanya expressed disappointment at not securing the win but emphasized the team’s determination to bounce back stronger in their next fixture.

Looking ahead, SC Villa will face Jinja Army side Gaddafi FC in their next match on Thursday, April 25th, 2024.

SC Villa Revives VMT Registration with Exclusive Database for 2023/24 Season

SC Villa has reopened the registration for their fans for the 2023/24 season through the Villa Members Trust (VMT). This revival was officially launched on November 8, with CEO William Nkemba, club PRO Asan Kasingye, and executive members Sarah Adong and Sam Mubiru in attendance.

CEO William Nkemba explained that the registration process had been temporarily halted, but it was now being revived with a specific purpose. The club wanted to establish an exclusive and independent database for SC Villa, free from third-party influence. They developed new software to achieve this goal and ensure they have full control over their membership data.

This decision was partly in response to concerns raised by members, particularly after disruptions during the previous presidential elections. Today’s revival of registration reflects the executive’s commitment to address those concerns and maintain full ownership of their database.

Membership fees remain at Ugx. 50,000 annually, and all registered members, including those who registered in June, will receive a membership card. Registration for November will take place at the club offices, with plans to expand the process nationwide.

“Nkemba also pledged to disclose the numbers of registered members from previous seasons since the initiation of the VMT.”
