MATCH REPORT: THE JOGOO’S CLAIM IMPORTANT AWAY VICTORY OVER LUGAZI FC

SC Villa picked up three valuable points on the road after securing a hard-fought victory over Lugazi FC in Matchday 9 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The Jogoos made a bright start to the encounter, showing attacking intent from the opening minutes. Their early dominance paid off in the 5th minute when Frank Ssebuufu found the back of the net to give the visitors an early lead, earning himself the nickname The American Boy.

The visitors continued to apply pressure, with Ibrahim Kasinde testing the Lugazi goalkeeper in the 20th minute. Six minutes later, Aslam Ssemakula created another opportunity for Ssebuufu, but the forward could not convert. SC Villa maintained their advantage despite further attempts, including a dangerous free kick from John Asiimwe just before the interval.

The Jogoos went into the break with a slender 1-0 lead.

The second half resumed at a high tempo, with both sides looking to make an impact. In the 56th minute, John Asiimwe came close to doubling Villa’s advantage with a well-timed header from an excellent cross by Ibrahim Kasinde.

As the game progressed, the Jogoos continued to push forward in search of another goal. Patrick Kakande made way for Tonny Asiku in the 71st minute, while Andrew Otim and Ukasha Kato were introduced five minutes from time, replacing Ibrahim Kasinde and Frank Ssebuufu.

At the other end, goalkeeper David Lukwago produced a fantastic save in the 80th minute to deny Frank Mulimi from a free kick, keeping the Jogoos in front.

Lugazi managed to find a late equaliser in the 89th minute, threatening to deny the visitors maximum points. However, the Jogoos held on to secure an important result away from home.
